If you are having problems connecting from SpecWare to WatchDog 1000 or 2000 stations or original loggers, using the 3661U USB-to-3.5mm-Stereo-Plug cable, you may have received the following message:

If you are using SpecWare 9 Basic or Pro, please download and install the free update to the latest version on the specmeters.com web site http://www.specmeters.com/specware9/

For SpecWare 9.05 Build 274:
  1. Plug in the black cable to a USB port on the PC
  2. Open SpecWare

SpecWare will recognize that the cable is present, and change the setting automatically.

For SpecWare versions prior to release 9:

  1. Plug in the black cable to a USB port on the PC
  2. Open SpecWare
  3. Click menu "File" then "Preferences"
  4. Click the "Communication" tab
  5. If you haven't already set the "Direct Connection Port" to the COM port that the USB driver assigned, then do so now.
  6. Click the "Advanced Options" button (in the lower right)
  7. Under "Direct Connect Options", uncheck "Hardware Flow Control (RTS)".
  8. Click "OK"

The cable should now work properly.
