If you are having problems connecting from SpecWare to WatchDog 1000 or 2000 stations or original loggers, using the 3661U USB-to-3.5mm-Stereo-Plug cable, you may have received the following message:

If you are using SpecWare 9 Basic or Pro, please download and install the free update to the latest version on the specmeters.com web site http://www.specmeters.com/specware9/
For SpecWare 9.05 Build 274:
- Plug in the black cable to a USB port on the PC
- Open SpecWare
SpecWare will recognize that the cable is present, and change the setting automatically.
For SpecWare versions prior to release 9:
- Plug in the black cable to a USB port on the PC
- Open SpecWare
- Click menu "File" then "Preferences"
- Click the "Communication" tab
- If you haven't already set the "Direct Connection Port" to the COM port that the USB driver assigned, then do so now.
- Click the "Advanced Options" button (in the lower right)
- Under "Direct Connect Options", uncheck "Hardware Flow Control (RTS)".
- Click "OK"
The cable should now work properly.
